If you are seeing this website, this means you are invited to partake in the
Alternative Protein Workshop 2025 at NTNU. The workshop is organised by The NTNU Alt Protein Project, a student group working to promote academic collaboration within alternative proteins.

This half-day conference is designed for researchers at NTNU or in Norway, whose work is related to alternative proteins—ranging from social science research on cellular agriculture in Norway to work on microbially produced proteins. We invite researchers at various levels, from PhD candidates to professors.
Workshop programme
Coffee and light snacks will be available during the workshop. The workshop will conclude with opportunities to continue good discussions over a served lunch.

The workshop programme is subject to minor changes as the workshop approaches.
  1. Welcome talk w/ Øyvind Gregersen (Dean of Natural Sciences)
The workshop will start at 09:30 with a brief welcome by Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences (NV), Øyvind Weiby Gregersen.
2. "Why alternative proteins?"
An overview of alternative proteins as an academic field. This short presentation will set the foundation for fruitful discussions.
3. Roundtable discussion on alternative proteins
Every invited guests bring in their own perspectives on alternative protein research. We will be exploring questions regarding comparative advantages and challenges in the research field.
4. "My journey with alternative protein funding" w/ Sissel Rønning (Norwegian Research Council)
Virtual presentation by Sissel Rønning from Forskningsrådet. Prior Sissel worked for Nofima where she has researched cultivated meat since 2014. This will be a presentation where Sissel shares her experience applying for funding for alternative protein research in Norway, and will include a Q&A section.
5. NTNU Food Forum w/ Eva Falch (IBT)
Wrapping up the workshop looking ahead. How can we continue the discussions regarding alternative proteins?
6. Lunch & networking
Catered lunch will be served at 12:00.
